Looking Ahead to the Week and The Weekend

There are two more weeks remaining in the regular season for all four Hanover teams, and a number of special and/or concluding events that will be part of this.

One mundane one first:  The Varsity and JV will play at Timberlane Tuesday at 4:00.  The bus will depart after 5th period.

This Thursday, the Varsity will host Dover at 4:00 in the Grassroot Soccer Charity Game.  We have been raising money for several weeks to support Grassroot Soccer, which you know is a superb non-profit dedicated to fighting the spread of HIV/AIDS in Africa.  We have collected $1,825 thus far, and hope to reach the $2,500 mark by Thursday.  Positive Tracks has offered to match our total, which would mean $5,000 for Grassroot.  Will you help us reach our goal?  Here is the link to the fundraising site.  You can donate to any one of the players who have registered to raise funds:

On Saturday, the Varsity will host Alvirne at 2:00 on Senior Day. We will be realizing a longstanding dream of mine and honoring 30 seniors and their parents.  Yes, 30.  Three-oh.  There are 16 seniors playing Varsity Soccer this year, and 14 playing for the Reserves, and every one of them is well-deserving of this recognition.  Almost all of them have played four years of HHS soccer at various levels.  All of them are the sort of role models that we want for our younger players.  We'll have the Senior Ceremony at 1:00, prior to the Varsity game, wanting to make sure that we allow enough time.
We would like to have players and/or parents RSVP to Kris Strohbehn, who is helping organize the event for the Friends of Hanover Soccer:  kstrohbehn@gmail.com

We are thrilled to announce that the soccer teams collected 206 pounds of food for the Haven food pantry at Friday's games.  Thanks to the players and parents for your generosity!

We're also happy to announce that Laurie Bergenkamp won our Bruins Raffle (tickets and a Patrice Bergeron Jersey), which was a fundraiser for the Friends of Hanover Soccer.  We are grateful to David Messersmith and Cross Insurance for their generous donation.

Please remember these dates:

Saturday, October 29:  NHIAA Quarterfinal Playoff Game - 2:00 p.m.

Thursday, November 10:  Four Team Soccer Celebration - 6:00 p.m. HHS Gym
