After a long stretch of close matches, the Junior Varsity returned home to their soggy pitch and enjoyed a 5-1 victory over Dover, exploding for three goals in a four-minute stretch early in the second half, breaking a 1-1 tie.
Dover actually broke on top when a Dover forward toe-poked a shot from 35 yards out that chipped Harris LaRock and gave the visitors a 1-0 lead. The Marauders finally tied the match in the final minute of the half when a pass form Colm Seigne fell to Blake Palmer, who tapped it into the left corner to send the squad into the (virtual) locker room in a better frame of mind.
Coach Yosef Osheyack's impassioned halftime speech had the desired effect, as Hanover exploded for three goals early in the second half. Five minutes after the interval, Kyle Doucette sent Owen Stadheim in alone with a nice through pass, and Stadheim deposited his second goal of the season to give the Marauders the lead. Two minutes later, center back Gary Li hit a long ball out of the back that was collected by Sawyer Hanlon, who dribbled past two defenders and finished expertly in the left side netting for his seventh goal of the season. The onslaught continued two minutes later, when Andy Rightmire set up Palmer for his second goal of the match and team-leading ninth of the season.
Christo Dragnev completed the scoring ten minutes from the end of the match, collecting the ball after a Matt Fenner tackle and beating two defenders before finding room in the bottom left for his sixth goal of the season.
Now 13-1 on the season, with an 11-game winning streak, Hanover plays their final home game of the season on Saturday, hosting Alvirne at Noon.
