New-Look Reserves Beat Con-Val 6-0; Busy Week Ahead

A long week of hot work for the Marauder Reserves bore fruit on Friday, as the "old Guy" squad played total football and beat visiting Con-Val 6-0 on the sub-baked Dresden pitch.  The match was a good rebound from last week's loss to Exeter and a trial run for the two team system. The veteran squad set the tone with solid work, but it was rookie subs who opened up the scoring.  Andrew Enelow was pressuring the backline with repeated runs, though it was his heads up assist that created the first goal.  While moving at the defense he realized he had drawn three defenders, so he coolly passed it back to Alex Roth who unleashed a shot into the upper left of the net.  A few minutes later Sam Lutz took a through ball from Gabe Loud and he blasted a goal from 20 yards out one touch to close out the first half.

The second half continued the scoring with goals from Gabe Loud and Tenzing Rumrill, who finally got a goal from his relentless attacking on the right flank. Sam Lutz scored his second, breaking a three-year scoring drought, and Hanover got a final goal from Daniel Felde, who created a goal from a half-field run down the left flank.  Andrew Enelow and Gabe Loud also chocked up more assists for the day.

The goals would of meant little if not for rock steady defense from Harry Olszewski, Wilson Rimberg, Avery Wallis, Dan Wilson, and Dimitri Somoff.  Eric Seltzer  proved himself in goal with a sold performance and some great diving saves.  It was nice way to end the week.

Next week is a busy one for the Reserves, with three home matches.  The "Young Guys" host Sharon Academy on Monday, but ALL Reserves are asked to come to Dresden in white uniforms for a team photo before the game.

The "Old Guys" will suit up for Wednesday's game against Kimball Union, and then on Thursday the "Young Guys" host Sunapee.
